FOTD - Indie Every Day

Quick everyday make-up post before I fling my laptop and drawing tablet into my bag and head off to uni for a fun days lecture on magical CG shizzle.

[ I assure you my hair actually looks GOD DAMN awful at the ends. Still need to brave the hairdressers! ]

EYES - TFSI, Little Mouse Ears 'Aphrodisiac', Chinivi 'Smoke Out', MUA waterproof liquid eyeliner (this stuff is epic), NYC big lash mascara, Natural Collection 'Shell'.

FACE - Maybelline 'Fit Me' foundation, 17 concealer (this is awful, don't even think about trying it - I ban you from doing so!), Collection loose powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush.

LIPS - Detrivore lip balm, The Body Needs 'Chick Flick' lip lustre.

How awesome is this Disney villains make-up bag my sister bought for me?! I was never overly into Disney as a kid (apart from The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas - amazing) but the evil witches always looked so badass I thought they were way cooler than the soppy princesses they harassed.

And now I'm off! Enjoy your day - whatever you're doing!

FOTD - Persuasion

Now, I don't know about you, but I find applying actual loose glitter a bit of a ball ache. A super glitzy eyeshadow paired with a sticky base, is always an easier option! Darling Girl 'Persuasion' was my weapon of choice today - a pale lavender toned pink with gold and turquoise sparkle.

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Darling Girl 'Persuasion' (applied dry, then wet), Fyrinnae 'Faerie Glamour', Sleek black, Sleek pale yellow and white mixed, MUA liquid eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - New Cid primer, Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, NYC mousse foundation, Collection loose powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush.

LIPS - Detrivore vanilla 'embalming stick'.

Let me just tell you, these pictures do 'Persuasion' no justice. I wish I could capture just how much sparkle there is when this gem is applied wet! It's amazing! If you're a fan of Darling Girl 'My Little Pony', this is basically a paler, way more attention grabbing version. You should go and perv over Swatch Freak's...um...swatches.

Right! That's me suitably glittery! I'm off to go and help Momma Bad Habit prepare some food for my Uncle's birthday gathering. Hope you're all having a lovely day!

FOTD - Die My Darling

Die, die, die my darling,
Don't utter a single word,

 Die, die, die my darling,
Just shut your pretty eyes.

EYES - TFSI, Mad Minerals 'Camisole', Darling Girl 'Die, Die My Darling', Detrivore 'Tommyknocker', Sleek dark green and black, Madd Style 'Plan 9', Illamaquia sealing gel, Collection 2000 pencil eyeliner, Darling Girl 'Obviously A Wig', mascara.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte', Collection 2000 concealer, Collection 2000 powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy'

LIPS - Nothing.

So, I finally got to use Darling Girl 'Die, Die My Darling' from the 'Darling Grrl' collection. Now I have various Misfits songs floating around my head, which is always a good thing.

FOTD - Calavera Cupcakes

A few days ago I spotted Fyrinnae 'Calavera Cupcakes' sitting, unused since purchase, in my eyeshadow drawer. I'll admit, I wasn't exactly blown away by it when I first swatched it so I've been more or less ignoring it! I figured I'd give it a go today...

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Fyrinnae 'Calavera Cupcakes', Fyrinnae 'Superstar', Darling Girl 'Obviously a Wig', Mad Minerals 'Camisole', Madd Style 'Plan 9', MUA 'Shade 12', Illamasqua sealing gel, Sleek white, cream and black eyeshadows, Collection 2000 pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Natural Collection 'Shine Away' foundation (this stuff is crap but fine for mixing with other foundations), Collection 2000 concealer, Collection 2000 powder, Detrivore 'Spoiled' blush.

LIPS - MAC 'Creme d'Nude', Beauty UK 'Sweet 16' gloss.

I'm still not sold. 'Calvera Cupcakes' is staying firmly in the 'meh' category for me! It's pretty but not very interesting or bold. This reminds me that I haven't swatched my last Fyrinnae haul, which arrived AGES ago. Keep an eye out for that, because I received some very non-meh shades, too :) In the mean time, check out some cupcakes I am definitely a fan of!
Despite the promise of death and Hell, these are the salted chocolate cupcakes I made using the recipe on Lipglossiping. They're delicious! Plus, how pretty is my cake platter?! Mum was going to give it to me for my 21st, but she got too excited and gave it to me early!

What's your most dramatic silver eyeshadow? Favourite Fyrinnae eyeshadow? Tastiest cupcake recipe? Let me know!

REVIEW: Detrivore Cosmetics

'Detrivore Cosmetics' are the only cosmetics company I know of run by an actual zombie. After the owner, Distorria, met a sticky end involving a chainsaw, her undead self decided it was time to move on with her life...death...whatever, and start her own business. Hey, who said a girl has to have a heartbeat to look good?!

'Detrivore Cosmetics' are one of the very few indie cosmetics companies to create and stock a wide range of matte eyeshadows, so I gladly flung some in my basket and placed an order.  Almost an entire month later, my order arrived. Yes, a month is pretty excessive but the turnaround time is clearly stated on the home page and when you factor in shipping time - I guess you can't ask for much more.

Each product comes shrink wrapped - with the ingredients list stuck over the plastic wrap. Is it just me, or does that seem pointless? Once the wrap is gone, so is the ingredients list. Although, ingredients don't have to be listed on samples at all, so at least Detrivore give you the chance to have a quick look before binning them. Detrivore state under each product whether it is/ isn't vegan.

Each product is labelled with its name, product type, product number and...a lobster (or beetle.) Personally, I'd lose the lobster (though I do like it) and cram in the ingredients list. I think product names such as 'Asylum' and 'Arachnid' make an interesting change to the usual 'Butterly Blue' and 'Soft Petal' - don't you?

ARACHNID: Princess pink loaded with silvery shimmer. I ordered this because it's the very definition of a shade I wouldn't usually order. It's girly, pretty and I think it will look crackin' with purples.
ASYLUM: A far more 'me' colour! Medium-deep, matte teal blue. 'Asylum' would make an awesome liner mixed with a little Illamsaqua sealing gel.
BOG BODY: A bold, matte minty green. 'Bog Body' would make a great inner lid shade for green or blue looks. Lovely!
BONE: Everyone needs a basic, matte white - it's a staple product for many. The flaw with many matte whites is chalkiness, I'm glad to report that 'Bone' is super smooth.

BSoD: This is what I imagine Sugarpill 'Royal Sugar' would look like minus the sparkle - rich, royal blue. This would look awesome on brown or amber eyes.

COWARD - A medium, matte, sunshine yellow with slight orange tones.

LIVOR MORTIS: Seriously stunning dark base with a heap of pink shimmer, giving 'Livor Mortis' a deceptive dark plum look. I've worn this as 'liner the past few days and I can see why it's one of Detrivore's best sellers!
TOMMYKNOCKER: Medium, dirty jungle green. I can't wait to pair this with Darling Girl 'Die, Die My Darling' - should be a killer combo.

POISON BLUSH: A *slightly* peachy, bright pink blush. Don't let the starkness of this shade fool you, it can be buffed to give quite a natural looking flush.
SPOILED BLUSH: Bright pink with a bit of a purpley tone, I think a touch of 'Spoiled' this would look amazing on dark skin.

If you buy indie cosmetics fairly regularly, you might have noticed that a lot of companies struggle to make a decent matte. Mattes which actually adhere to bases and primers, mattes that don't vanish as soon as you start to blend it, mattes which are pigmented and...well...useable. Detrivore have mattes down. Next time I think I'll order a few more shimmery shades...yeah, I said next time.

Sample bags - $1
5g Jars - $4
Current sale - 10 x 5g jars for $20 (bargaaaaain!)

Have you tried Detrivore yet? What are your favourite shades? Got your eye on any?

FOTD - Death Rock

Yesterday evening, I settled down and started watching Under Blue Lights videos on Youtube. After watching a few of her incredible videos, I felt inspired to have a go myself, though I didn't come close to her level of awesomeness!

The light was dying since it was late in the evening and therefore photos were pretty horrific. Layering images hides a multitude of awful image quality, though you can't see the make-up as clearly. Ah well, you get the idea of it! I felt like a death rock bride of Frankenstein!

PRODUCTS - Stargazer white liquid foundation, No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, baby powder, Illamasqua sealing gel, Fyrinnae 'Harlequin', Detrivore 'Spoiled', Sleek matte black, Collection 2000 eyeliner, Stargazer black glitter.

It's been a while since I did an 'out there' looks, so it made for a nice change!

FOTD - Pulp Fiction

Can you believe I've NEVER seen 'Pulp Fiction'? Not even once.  Samuel L. Jackson + Uma Thurman + Bruce Willis + John Travolva to the power of Quentin Tarantino = EPIC. Riiight? Amiright? Seems like basic maths to me. Anyway, that's a long winded way of saying that I will finally watch it tonight. Wheeey!

Still lovin' the wig/ hat combo (AKA still too lazy to sort out my actual hair.)

EYES - TFSI, Little Mouse Ears 'Lizard Tail', Little Mouse Ears 'Quick Like a Bunny', Sleek cream, white and plum from the 'Mattes v2 - Darks' palette, Collection 2000 pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - Illamasqua matte primer (trying it again), Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer, No.7 'beautifully Matte' foundation, Collection 2000 powder, Stargazer bronzer.

LIPS - Just Detrivore vanilla 'embalming tube'...AKA, lip balm.

Little Mouse Ears 'Lizard Tail' is such an awesome colour - a hybrid of plum, brown and dark silver, creating a gorgeous dirty taupe. It's from the 'Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die' collection, which consists of shades inspired by the film 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. I actually won samples of the whole collection in a contest, lucky me! Definitely check them out, they're all lovely.

Now, onto the important business of curry, cider and a film. Ideal night in, wouldn't you say?
