What's in My Everyday Make-up Bag?

It's nice 'n' all  seeing all these reviews for a huge mix of products, but it's those products that make it into your everyday routine that have stood the real test - don't you think?

PRIME - I've been using W7 'Prime Magic' for a while now in a bid to make my gargantuan pores less obvious. I'd say it works quite well, but next on my hit list is Benefit 'Porefessional'.

CONCEAL - I decided to test out Essence 'Stay All Day Concealer' which to be frank, it awful as a concealer since it rubs away as soon as you attempt to blend it, but I do like it to highlight my brow bone. Old faithful Collection 'Lasting Perfection' never does me wrong!

BASE - I fancied something with a bit more coverage than my usual Bourjois pickings, so Revlon 'Colourstay' it was. This isn't as full coverage as I remember, especially when buffed in with a stippling brush, but it sure as Hell lasts!

POWDER - Another Essence offering! This geezer keeps my foundation in place nicely, but I think it also gives a bit of an orangey tinge...back to Rimmel once this guy's finished...

CONTOUR - Sleek contour kit in 'Medium' is my pick, it's a wee bit too warm to be a 'true contouring shade' but it adds a little definition to my cheeks and warms up my complexion nicely.

BLUSH - Yet more Essence - eek! This peachy shade is ideal fir my skintone and help me look fair more alive than I usually feel!

PRIME - Oh, Too Faced 'Shadow Insurance', how I love thee. My favourite eyeshadow primer ever.

EYESHADOW - I tend to keep eyeshadows I can just throw on in my make-up bag, which lately has been a selection of Darling Girl and Essence. I've actually reviewed this palette recently, you can see swatches right here.

LINE - After scouring THREE Superdrugs for my all time favourite liner (MUA waterproof) and coming up empty handed (is it just me, or do Superdrug suck at keeping MUA stocked?) I grabbed the first alternative I saw - 2true waterproof liner. So far so good, but I do miss my MUA!

LASHES - Max Factor are the don of mascaras which STAY. 'Masterpiece Transform' gives volume and length without becoming clumpy - ideal.

BROWS - How ragged does my Fashionista brow palette look?! I daren't show you the state of the inside. However, it does have the perfect dark brown for my brows and doubles nicely as a little neutrals palette.

And that, my friends, is my everyday make-up bag! What's in yours?

Too Faced 'Shadow Insurance' - Make Your Eye Make-up LAST!

Too Faced 'Shadow Insurance' is my holy grail primer. It is my make-up God - I will forever be a devout worshipper, kneeling to give my thanks on a daily basis and spreading the word about the joy it can bring. It is the one product I simply can't do without, and one of the rare cult classics actually worth the praise it receives - sit down, grab a brew, let me tell you about Too Faced 'Shadow Insurance'...

This one little product makes my eye make-up last through anything the day can throw at it - and I mean anything. 'Shadow Insurance' has seen me through torrential rain, snow blizzards, concerts which have literally soaked every item of clothing I've been wearing through with sweat, extreme heat and probably a whole bunch more - after all, I have been using it for about seven years...
Application is a doddle, just squeeze a tiny bit onto your lid and rub it in with your finger - sorted! From the tube, 'Shadow Insurance' is a fleshy beige type of shade, but it turns transparent once it's blended into the skin. I let in sit for about ten seconds, then apply eye make-up as usual. Eyeshadow applies buttery smooth, blends like a dream and stays looking fresh all day. Boom. Job done.

Now, it is a bit pricey at £17 a pop, but one tube lasts AGES. I've only had three for as long as I've been using it, which is amazing considering how small the tube looks! That makes the 'cost per wear' pretty damn tiny. If cheap primers haven't worked for you in the past it's time to up your game and shell out a bit more - trust me, it's worth it.

RRP - £17 for 11g of product.
Available from - Boots and various online stores.
Do you use eyeshadow primer? Which is your favourite?

FOTD - Fools Gold

Gold for £5? SEEMS LEGIT. Well, it can be in terms of make-up...For this look I used my current favourite palette, MUA 'Undress Me Too' (£4) as well as MUA waterproof liquid eyeliner (£1) - so that's a fiver's worth of gold!

Now, I'm not sure why I haven't done a proper review of MUA's waterproof liquid eyeliner yet because IT'S AWESOME. I was using it during Winter and it simply laughed in the face of snow and rain. The rest if my make-up was a victim to the weather most days - but the £1 eyeliner? That stuff's staying.

I started with 'Naked', applying it to my browbone. Then I swept 'Devotion' over 2/3 of the lid, along with 'Dreamy' on the outer lid and crease. 'Corrupt' was used to darken the crease and line the lower lashes. I then slicked on some eyeliner and mascara and that's it - easy! As always, Too Faced 'Shadow Insurance' was my primer of choice.

FACE - The Body Shop 'Tea Tree Pore Minimising Primer', Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, Bourjois 'Healthy Mix' foundation, Rimmel 'Stay Matte' powder, No.7 highlighting powder, NYC bronzer, Illamasqua 'Lover' blush.

LIPS - 17 'Bare it All' lipstick.

Then off I trotted to Manchester and met the boyfriend for food at Kosmonaut, somewhere we'll probably visit again. Veggies, you even have more than two options there! And no sodding beetroot! WHAT A GOD DAMN MIRACLE.

What's your favourite waterproof liquid eyeliner? Have you MUA's offerings?

Recent Eye Make-up Looks

Recently, the only times I've really been wearing make-up is to go to work - laziness and heat mean I'm more than happy to bob about bare faced! I have, however, managed to snap a few quick pictures of what I've been wearing before running off to the train station...

I USED - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Elvin Magic', Darling Girl 'Joust', Natural Collection 'Shell', FashionistA brow palette medium brown shade, Sleek dark purple, MUA eyeliner, mascara.

The easiest kind of look if you still want a bit of impact - shimmery neutrals and a brighter shade along the lower lashes. 'Joust' is such an amazing shade - greyish brown which seems to transform to plum-pink, green and complex shades of taupe, just stunning!

I USED - TFSI, Chinovi 'Princess', Darling Girl 'Joust', Darling Girl 'Strut', Sleek matte black, MUA eyeliner, mascara.

Here's 'Joust' again! See how this time it looks to have blue-green shimmer instead of plum-pink? The lid shade didn't photograph too well - but 'Princess' is actually more a bubblegum pink with golden shimmer.

I USED - TFSI, MAC 'Pink Bronze', Fyrinnae 'Picture it, Sicily', Sleek matte black, Heavenly Naturals 'Hummingbird', MUA black eyeliner, Sleek matte peach, mascara.

This is what I wore for the 'FABB Bloggers Manchester' event on Saturday and I loved the duochrome-iness of it. 'Pink Bronze' is one of my all time favourite shades - is it bronze, pink, or orange? It's a mish mash of all three and truly striking.

What have you been wearing on your eyes lately? Loading on the eyeliner or simply popping on some sunnies?

FOTD - It's A Classic for a Reason...

After seeing 'Graphite' in the new Sleek MakeUP palette, I was itching to do a classic smokey look with a bit of shimmer. I usually only go for silvery smokey eyes when I'm wearing black, but I think they work better with grey...maybe because they're so similar? What do you think?

[ Oh, natural lighting, why did I ever leave you? ]

EYES - TFSI, Sleek 'Showstoppers' palette (Graphite, Noir, Ultra Mattes V.2, Bad Girl), Natural Collection 'Seashell', MUA liquid eyeliner, Collection pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - Maybelline 'Fit Me' foundation, 17 liquid concealer (this is bobbins, don't buy it), MUFE 92 eyeshadow as powder, No. 7 highlighting powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush.

LIPS - Mix of MAC 'Angel' and 'Creme d'Nude'

Perhaps a bit much for an evening in with the boyfriend, but hey, why not?!

Now I'm off to catch up on whatever the blogosphere has been up to over night/ this morning, then trudging my way through writing some more on an essay which has taken me FOREVER. Usually I finish essays within about 2 - 3 days, just power through - I actually like writing them. This latest one, however...three weeks -_-

Silvery smokey eyes - better worn with black or grey? Are you counting down the days to Summer break, too?

FOTD - Persuasion

Now, I don't know about you, but I find applying actual loose glitter a bit of a ball ache. A super glitzy eyeshadow paired with a sticky base, is always an easier option! Darling Girl 'Persuasion' was my weapon of choice today - a pale lavender toned pink with gold and turquoise sparkle.

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Darling Girl 'Persuasion' (applied dry, then wet), Fyrinnae 'Faerie Glamour', Sleek black, Sleek pale yellow and white mixed, MUA liquid eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - New Cid primer, Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, NYC mousse foundation, Collection loose powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush.

LIPS - Detrivore vanilla 'embalming stick'.

Let me just tell you, these pictures do 'Persuasion' no justice. I wish I could capture just how much sparkle there is when this gem is applied wet! It's amazing! If you're a fan of Darling Girl 'My Little Pony', this is basically a paler, way more attention grabbing version. You should go and perv over Swatch Freak's...um...swatches.

Right! That's me suitably glittery! I'm off to go and help Momma Bad Habit prepare some food for my Uncle's birthday gathering. Hope you're all having a lovely day!

FOTD - Radical Gold

Yesterday I received my latest Darling Girl Cosmetics order and today I played with a couple new shades and a couple golden oldies :) I also realised how quickly my Darling Girl collection is growing! It'll be growing even more soon with the release of their Halloween collection...

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Darling Girl 'Patty O'Green', Darling Girl 'Roots Radical', Darling Girl 'Totally Teal', Darling Girl 'Graveyard Glamour, Sleek black, white and cream eyeshadows, Illamasqua sealing gel, Fyrinnae 'Shrouded in Gold'.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Collection 2000 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, Collection 2000 face powder, Stargazer bronzer, No.7 highlighter.

LIPS - MAC 'Honeylove'.

I'm obsessed with mixing my own eyeliners using Illamasqua sealing gel, lately. You should see how this gold looks 'in real life' - it's like gold leaf, gorgeous! Speaking of Illamasqua, are you planning on buying anything from the 'Generation Q' collection? I have my eye on the Sophie blush...

FOTD - Pulp Fiction

Can you believe I've NEVER seen 'Pulp Fiction'? Not even once.  Samuel L. Jackson + Uma Thurman + Bruce Willis + John Travolva to the power of Quentin Tarantino = EPIC. Riiight? Amiright? Seems like basic maths to me. Anyway, that's a long winded way of saying that I will finally watch it tonight. Wheeey!

Still lovin' the wig/ hat combo (AKA still too lazy to sort out my actual hair.)

EYES - TFSI, Little Mouse Ears 'Lizard Tail', Little Mouse Ears 'Quick Like a Bunny', Sleek cream, white and plum from the 'Mattes v2 - Darks' palette, Collection 2000 pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - Illamasqua matte primer (trying it again), Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer, No.7 'beautifully Matte' foundation, Collection 2000 powder, Stargazer bronzer.

LIPS - Just Detrivore vanilla 'embalming tube'...AKA, lip balm.

Little Mouse Ears 'Lizard Tail' is such an awesome colour - a hybrid of plum, brown and dark silver, creating a gorgeous dirty taupe. It's from the 'Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die' collection, which consists of shades inspired by the film 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. I actually won samples of the whole collection in a contest, lucky me! Definitely check them out, they're all lovely.

Now, onto the important business of curry, cider and a film. Ideal night in, wouldn't you say?

FOTD - Red Eyeshadow? Yes Please!

Recently I've been enamoured with red eyeshadow - whether it's firey hot or dark and vampy, I haven't been able to take my mind off it. I blame the Pixiwoo sisters, whenever they use red tones with their cool bluey greeny greyish eyes my brain goes a bit loopy - it must be love, right?

Oh, say 'Hi' to my new wig, too! I wont link you to where I bought it exactly because they sent the wrong style and colour *rolls eyes* I had to cut and steam style it myself (hence the slightly dodgy fringe) to make it wearable.

See how red kinda brings out the yellowy green rings in my iris? Red seriously works with any eye colour, it's just a case of finding something to suit your skin tone.

OOH! I have a shiny new hat, too, I figured it was about time I bought one. New Look to the rescue with this £4.99 slouchy, bobble hat :)

EYES - TFSI, Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 Darks palette 'Maple', 'Dune', 'Highness', 'Noir' and 'Pillow Talk', Stargazer red pearl eyeshadow, mascara, UD 'Lucky' eyeliner.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Collection 2000 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, Stargazer bronzer.

LIPS - MAC 'Honeylove'.

A bit old school in personal style since this is something I'd have worn pretty often when I was about 15, but oldies are often the best. What do you think to red eyeshadow? What kind of make-up did you wear when you were 15?
