Recent Eye Make-up Looks

Recently, the only times I've really been wearing make-up is to go to work - laziness and heat mean I'm more than happy to bob about bare faced! I have, however, managed to snap a few quick pictures of what I've been wearing before running off to the train station...

I USED - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Elvin Magic', Darling Girl 'Joust', Natural Collection 'Shell', FashionistA brow palette medium brown shade, Sleek dark purple, MUA eyeliner, mascara.

The easiest kind of look if you still want a bit of impact - shimmery neutrals and a brighter shade along the lower lashes. 'Joust' is such an amazing shade - greyish brown which seems to transform to plum-pink, green and complex shades of taupe, just stunning!

I USED - TFSI, Chinovi 'Princess', Darling Girl 'Joust', Darling Girl 'Strut', Sleek matte black, MUA eyeliner, mascara.

Here's 'Joust' again! See how this time it looks to have blue-green shimmer instead of plum-pink? The lid shade didn't photograph too well - but 'Princess' is actually more a bubblegum pink with golden shimmer.

I USED - TFSI, MAC 'Pink Bronze', Fyrinnae 'Picture it, Sicily', Sleek matte black, Heavenly Naturals 'Hummingbird', MUA black eyeliner, Sleek matte peach, mascara.

This is what I wore for the 'FABB Bloggers Manchester' event on Saturday and I loved the duochrome-iness of it. 'Pink Bronze' is one of my all time favourite shades - is it bronze, pink, or orange? It's a mish mash of all three and truly striking.

What have you been wearing on your eyes lately? Loading on the eyeliner or simply popping on some sunnies?

FOTD - Indie Every Day

Quick everyday make-up post before I fling my laptop and drawing tablet into my bag and head off to uni for a fun days lecture on magical CG shizzle.

[ I assure you my hair actually looks GOD DAMN awful at the ends. Still need to brave the hairdressers! ]

EYES - TFSI, Little Mouse Ears 'Aphrodisiac', Chinivi 'Smoke Out', MUA waterproof liquid eyeliner (this stuff is epic), NYC big lash mascara, Natural Collection 'Shell'.

FACE - Maybelline 'Fit Me' foundation, 17 concealer (this is awful, don't even think about trying it - I ban you from doing so!), Collection loose powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush.

LIPS - Detrivore lip balm, The Body Needs 'Chick Flick' lip lustre.

How awesome is this Disney villains make-up bag my sister bought for me?! I was never overly into Disney as a kid (apart from The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas - amazing) but the evil witches always looked so badass I thought they were way cooler than the soppy princesses they harassed.

And now I'm off! Enjoy your day - whatever you're doing!

FOTD - Whisper to the Dead

Not so long ago, my latest Darling Girl Cosmetics order arrived and last night I finally got to play with the shade which (unexpectedly) stood out to me the most - 'Recently Deceased'. A dirty plum with golden sparkle, this kind of shade suits most people and makes a nice change to black eyeliner when mixed with sealing gel...

[[ My sister bought some bindis for me - pretty! ]]

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Chinovi 'Whisper', Darling Girl 'Recently Deceased', Sleek black and dark aubergine from the Ultra Mattes Darks palette, MAC 'Vanilla' pigment, Collection 2000 pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - Collection 2000 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation (the flash back from this is fairly strong - hence the weirdly smooth looking face!), Stargazer bronzer, MAC 'Vanilla' pigment.

LIPS - Barry M 152, random coral Jemma Kidd gloss.

[[ My hair seems fitting for bonfire night, right?! ]]

Sorry about the weird white balance and exposures in these pics, taking pictures in your room at night is ridiculously difficult and I'm out of practise! Also sorry for any strange errors, eczema in your fingertips makes typing a bizarre and painful experience. Yay -_-

On a happier note, it's the most colourful night of the year - bonfire night! I'm mega excited, I love piling layers, squelching through mud to find a decent spot and staring into the sky 'Ooohing' and 'Aaaahing', stealing my boyfriend's warmth and watching my Dad dance to the Christian rap group that play at the show every year. Aaah, traditions :)

What are you lot up to tonight? For the non-Brits, do you have any nights similar to Bonfire Night?

REVIEW - Chinovi Cosmetics

I came upon Chinovi Cosmetics around the time of their 'grand opening' sale and so decided to try them out! I usually don't order from companies until they've been around for a few months, but I'd already heard good things so I went for it anyway...

Everything arrived neatly packed, with all the products wrapped up in a yellow paper bag printed with the Chinovi logo. There were also a couple of business cards and a free sample of 'Hiccup' eyeshadow.

I like that the clam shells have clear labels, printed with the company logo and product name - they look rather professional compared to other clam shell samples I've had. Generally, I dislike clam shells since they're easy to spill and product gets wasted every time you open/ close them - unfortunately sample jars are not available.

Packaging aside, lets have a look at what I ordered, shall we?

PARTY - 'Party' is a deep, rich petrol blue. I imagine this would make for a kick ass smokey eye!

MONSTER -'Monster' is the shade I was most excited to try! It's simply stunning. Medium, cool toned purple with strong blue duochrome. 'Monster' is the stand out shade for me, I can't wait to pair it with Fyrinnae 'Faerie Glamour'.

NIECES - A peachy, rosey shade with golden shimmer, 'Nieces' was purchased to use as a blush. As yet I haven't tried it out, but it's in the right shade range to suit my warm skin :)

PRINCESS - A bright, girly pink with plenty of golden glitter. 'Princess' is probably going to end up being used as a blush layered over something like The Balm 'Frat Boy'.

WHISPER - 'Whisper' is a beautiful warm, golden beige which isn't far off Shiro Cosmetics 'S.S Anne'. These kind of shades make ideal 'one colour washes' for me, so I can see this will get plenty of use.

MARQUEE - A dirty plum taupe kinda shade, not something I'd usually opt for but for some reason I just had to try it! I've already used this a few times to smoke out the lower lashline; it would make an awesome liner mixed with a foiling medium.

SMOKE OUT - Oh hey, sexy! *Cough* What?! Are you trying to tell me 'Smoke Out' isn't seriously hot?! I beg to differ! Ideal for anyone who loves smokey eyes, taupes, metallics and sexiness.

ALIEN - The hardest shade of the bunch to capture on camera, 'Alien' is truly bizarre! Bizarre in a good way. It's a golden highlight type shade with green tones, I don't have anything similar in my collection. I really want to figure out a way to wear it soon!

As you can see, these eyeshadows are really pretty, but not overly unique (with the exception of 'Alien' and 'Monster') compared to other indie companies out there. I actually found it hard choosing colours to order because I already have a lot of similar shades.

Overall, however, I'm impressed! The formula for Chinovi eyeshadows is lovely - smooth, blendable and pigmented, shipping was fast, prices are fair, the site is easy to navigate and the branding is cute. I'd definitely recommend taking a look :)

Sample clam shells cost $1.25, full size jars (with sifters) are priced at $5. Available from the Chinovi Cosmetics site.
