REVIEW - REN Skincare Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

REN have been at it again, creating a new range named 'Rosa Centifolia' - this time to address just about anyone's cleansing needs. The line comprises of six different cleansers, each containing 'Rose Extract Complex' (no idea what exactly that is, but it sounds fancy, right?) to tone, soften and soothe. Ever a sucker for new cleansers, I've been testing out the 'Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser'.

The packaging is nothing special, functional and simple - fine by me.

After splashing my face with warm water, I squeeze out a little dollop and massage it over my skin. It feels a little like a light, creamy body lotion, however the little 'jojoba microbeads' give it that familiar texture of a facial exfoliator. The beads don't dissolve, which means you get a pretty good scrub out of them before washing them away down the plug hole.

REN 'Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser' is, as its name suggests, gentle. I wouldn't be using this hoping that my skin wouldn't still be crying out for something a more hardcore exfoliation by the end of the week, however, it does make the effects of a proper exfoliation last a little longer.

While REN 'Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser' does the job, it feels like a standard exfoliating facial cleanser. Call me picky, but if I paid £15 for this, I'd have been disappointed that it didn't feel more luxurious than a £4 cleanser, or have better results. The main difference is the ingredients list, as REN use only 100% plant and mineral derived 'actives' and no harsh synthetic ingredients - which is awesome, but if I'm not feeling or seeing the difference, it's not worth the extra £11 to me.

If it is worth the extra moolah to you, you can order REN 'Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser' online, priced at £15 for 100ml of product.

Product received for review consideration. Opinions 100% my own and 100% honest - as always!

  1. This was a great review! I'm so unfamiliar with cleansers and some of the price tags are pretty heft - also I do think pretty standard cleansers are available at much more reasonable prices!
    great refreshingly honest review :)
