REVIEW: Lush 'Blousey' Shampoo

The busy folk at Lush have been listening to our hair prayers and decided to try and unleash a little miracle for us in the form of brand spankin' new shampoo - 'Blousey'.

Made with moisturising banana pulp (strange, huh?), nourishing cocoa and capuacu butters as well as organic cloves, star anise and pimento berries for shine - 'Blousey' is damaged hair's knight in shining (yet strangely scented) armour.

Let me just say - 'Blousey' looks and feels more like baby food that something you should be rubbing into your hair! Once you're past that 'Are Lush pulling my leg?' feeling, though, it's actually quite enjoyable! The scent is initially very strong, but washes out to leave just a hint of rose, blackcurrant, rosemary and juniper - a scent I rather like, but none of my family do! Give it a whiff in store before buying online.

I've been using 'Blousey' for a month now and I probably have about three uses left in the tub - which at £18 a pop definitely makes it a product to buy for a treat! However, my hair does feel more resilient, smoother, stronger and I'm sure it looks shinier to. If 'Blousey' weren't so pricey, it would be a regular on my bathroom shelf.

Do you use any Lush products on your hair? How would you feel about having banana pureé on your head?!

  1. What are Lush doing giving students £18 shampoo, haha! I've heard great things about this, I might have to go give it a little sniff.

  2. I use the Soak and Float shampoo bar. At first it smells absolutely terrible but it doesn't linger on your hair. It also does amazing things for my hair. After a few weeks of using it, I started to enjoy the smell even though it's not my kind of scent at all.

  3. This sounds like it would do my hair wonders! I love the Body Shop's banana shampoo so I might replace it with this one for a month and see if it's worth the price tag x

  4. I just tried it yesterday for the first time (got free sample for 3-4 uses) and I was first like O.O "really?" but it worked great. Doesn't lather as much as I've used to shampoos lathering but I managed to get my all hair washed with the product. And today my hair are poofier than ever (used normal conditioner) but they look fuller which is nice. Can't say anything about the shine and won't see anything in the colour either since 4 uses isn't enough to notice a difference. But definitely a nice product if you have a wallet for £18 (or in Finland, way more) :D

  10. I've held back when it comes to Lush hair products just because they're so pricey. Like you said - it'd have to be a 'treat' for my hair. However I like the sound of the results. The idea of more resilient hair is definitely tempting, especially in these colder months. As for how I'd feel about banana puree on my head, I'm not sure I'd mind :P Feel free to pop over to my blog and say hi if you get the chance, i'd love to hear from you :) x
