Glitter polishes are notorious for being a right pain to remove. So, if like me you enjoy using pure, loose glitter in your manis - you could be in for absolute torture! That is, unless you know this easy peasy, popular method for removing glitter polish without having to scrub, pick, peel or curse...
You Will Need
Nail polish remover
Cotton wool pads or balls
Kitchen foil ripped into approx 2.5" x 2.5" squares
1. Rip your cotton wool so that it is large enough to cover your nail and wrap around the tip of your finger. I find it's easier to rip all the cotton wool to the correct size before moving to the next steps.
2. Tip the remover onto the cotton wool in the area that will cover your nail. Don't absolutely drench it through, else during step three you'll end up covered in remover! Wrap the cotton wool around your nail so that the remover is in contact with your nail.
3. Take a square of kitchen foil and squeeze it around your cotton wool coated nails so that they are completely covered. Squeeze fairly tightly. Repeat these three steps on each finger, until you end up with handless kitchen foil gloves (very Gaga).
4. Wait for ten minutes...I usually just find something I can manage to make and eat within ten minutes. Mmmm. What?! As if you don't want some pizza bread. Psssht.
5. After 10 minutes, squeeze, twist and pull off your foil finger tips. The polish will all come off in one go, with no mess. Easy peasy!
So, there you go, the simplest, least stressful way to remove mega glittery nail polish!

Ouch! I think you have calcium deficiency, because of your brittle nails. Increase calcium intake ;)
ReplyDeleteI still prefer to use scrub he he :D
ReplyDelete@ EVERYONE, ta guys, so glad you found it useful! This is a really well known technique, but it's well known for a reason!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy I found this on your blog! I've been wondering how I was going to tackle the terribad paint job I did on my toes the other week and I've just been dreading the idea of it for fear it will look 10 X worse.
ReplyDeleteI'll be giving this a try tomorrow if the weather is nice. I have four birds and I don't like to use chemicals around them so I always remove polish and paint my nails outside. So far I haven't had my neighbors catch me,I imagine if they see me with tinfoil on my toes they will really think I'm bonkers haha.
BRILLIANT tutorial lovely - I don't often wear glittery polishes but I do find that this also works for those incredibly stubborn dark polishes and the false nails that I sometimes wear (If I'm feeling terribly lazy!)
ReplyDeleteI'll remember this one for later!
