REVIEW - Barry M 'Touch of Magic' Lip Paint

Everyone loves colour changing, novelty cosmetics - right? Well, possibly not, but whether you're still a kid at heart or stick religiously to more 'grown up' cosmetic goods, one thing is undeniable - Barry M 'Touch of Magic' lip paint is probably one of the most inventive things you'll find on a UK make-up stand.

[[ Please excuse fingerprints and mushed bullet :/ ]]

Green in the tube, this lippy transforms into your own custom colour red-pink once applied, intensity depends on the alkali level of the lips. The first swipe leaves a faint pink tint, but over a few minutes the colour develops into an opaque, slightly glossy, lovely colour. Obviously, everyone will get a slightly different shade, so I'm not going to bother to swatch it. Keep in mind that if you've ever swatched this on your hand in store, it will look totally different on your lips since the alkali levels wont be the same.

[[ On me, 'Touch of Magic' is a red-pink hybrid. It is deeper than it photographed. ]]

Barry M promise a waterproof formula that will last for eight hours, which usually means that it would be uncomfortably dry - not so. 'Touch of Magic' doesn't make my lips feel tight or awkward, I actually forget that I'm wearing it! I even used it as a cream blush in this FOTD! As for eight hours... I'm an English teenager, all the tea drinking wipes lipstick off anyway!

I think 'Touch of Magic' is worth buying if you're an avid wearer of red or pink lips and fancy something fun. Can you imagine people's faces if you started touching up your lipstick?! I think I'm gonna trick the boyfriend with it when I next see him...

£4.49 from Superdrug, Boots or the Barry M website.

Do you own Barry M 'Touch of Magic'? How do you feel about colour changing make-up?

  1. I was looking at this the other week. It went very pink on me, and I wasn't very keen on the colour. But love the idea behind it.

  9. These things are nice, but I don't like that you can't know what it will look like on you until you buy it and wear it.

  13. I have this, one of my friends gave it to me as she didn't like the colour on her. I still have not tried it as lipstick but I've used it as a cream blush loads of times, so I'll probably buy it again.

  17. @ LatBeauty, I think the major drawback of this is that swatches on your hands aren't accurate. On my hand, this swatches almost neon hot pink - on my lips it's far more red. I admit only bought it out of curiosity, though!

@ Dani, it is fun! I wish my Mum would let me put it on her, but I doubt she would haha :)

@ Sarah Ann, it is quite unique. Worth it if you have some pennies spare.

@ Ria, I remember that! Do they still sell it? Too Faced made a similar one.

@ The Peach, it is! I wish they had other colours, a blue which turns purple would be amazing.

@ RaeRae, agreed! Haven't touched it up in front of anyone yet though :P

@ Aoife, aw! If you have PayPal I'd happily send one to you? Thanks! It was a 'greasy hair saviour' updo haha (classy lady).

@ Cosmetics Aficionado, totally agree. It's not like you can sanitize it and try it in the shop, either.

@ Dainty Darling Didgits, I'd happily send you one if you have PayPal. I think the Barry M site ships internationally, too :)

@ Susan, I'd happily send you one if you have PayPal, or I think Barry M ships internationally :) They are fun - think you can make colour changing glosses? :P

@ Robyn, it's fun, aint it? It was super pink on my cheeks but I blended it into oblivion haha. Was terrified I'd have clown cheeks!

@ Julianne, it does make a nice cheek colour, I like that you can match cheeks and lips so easily with this.

@ SilhouetteScreams, aw wow! I wish other brands here made them!

@ Discombobulated, it's so fun and a lovely colour!

@ Jonna, it is lovely! I'd send you one if you have PayPal :)

  19. @Dragonfly Accessories, haha, the purple ones are plugs for stretched ears, but I wear them all the time! I've got my ears pierced a total of five times but usually only wear stuff in the stretched ones. I started wearing studs in the others a few days ago though!
