More Pretties from Darling Girl Cosmetics

Y'all know by now that I can ever stay away from Darling Girl Cosmetics for very long! With such gorgeous, complex, jaw droppingly beautiful shades - who could? I love browsing the site looking at the swatches and making a mental note of what to order next...that's such a typical #bblogger way to waste some time!

Anyhoo, I ordered a few shades I wouldn't usually wear as well as some I knew I would love, as well as a primer.

Everything arrived neatly wrapped, with two free samples and a 'Gift With Purchase' (free product with orders over $10). Lets have a look at the shades I chose...

PERSUASION - A delicate, pale purple with LOTS of soft gold sparkle. To my eyes, the gold seems to shift to pale green in different lights. This is a shade that you definitely need to pat on to avoid patchiness.

OBVIOUSLY A WIG - A strong blue - magenta duochrome which has had many bloggers going a bit gaga! Over a sticky base, this is seriously intensive on the colour shifting! Magenta, blue, wine, purple...

DIE, DIE MY DARLING - Even if this had been the most hideous shade on the planet, I would have bought it. Why? Because it was inspired by The Misfits, who I have loved ever since I was about 13! Luckily, it's a striking shade of green with an incredible plum duochrome. The duochrome is just as impressive (if not more so) that that in 'Obviously A Wig' - fo' real. Unfortunately I failed to capture it very well *sigh*

CHEMICAL WARFARE - As part of the 'Darling Grrl' punk rock themed collection, I'm going to assume 'Chemical Warfare' was inspired by Slayer...even if Slayer aren't exactly punk rock! A yellow toned golden green with contrasting blue sparkles...or is it a green gold? I can't decide!

LUCKY - I thought 'Lucky' would be a straight up green 'whisper' colour...but I was very, very wrong. First off, it's more turquoise is anything - quite like Sugarpill 'Lumi'. Secondly, it seems to have a subtle pinky shift to it. Third, it's full of sparkle. Fourth, it's kick ass over a black base (pic above). It's very pretty, though, I think I'll be getting more from the 'Rainbow Brite' collection!
ON-X - I received a free sample of 'On-X' with one of my past orders and simply had to own a mini jar! 'On-X' is a sheer black with a tonne of multi-coloured sparkle. It takes on a slight purpley hue in some lights, but I think that's from all the pink sparkle piled in there. I FREAKIN' LOVE IT.

And so, my adoration for Darling Girl products grows a little stronger :) Every shade I ordered was 10x more impressive that I'd imagined. I'll let you know what I think to the primer once I've tested it some more.

Available from the Darling Girl Cosmetics site.

Have you ordered from Darling Girl? Do you plan to? What do you think to the 'Not an 80s Band' collection?

  16. you spoke to me when you mentioned the mindless wastes of time we #bbloggers make for ourselves! I LOVE to on to websites and open a document on my computer to type in every little thing I want, how I am going to split it up into 3 separate purchases and so on! lol! $10 you get free products?!?! wtf?! omg, they seem to be my kinda prices! the "obviously a wig" looks amazing! unlike anything I have ever seen! now I am confused by the "lucky" one. sheered out, it reminds me of a jesse's girl loose pigment/glitter but when you have it that turquoise, i dont understand how you got that color? a primer? anyway, thanks for sharing! do you have an invite link? if so, come on over to my blog so I can use it if i ever shop there!

@ Leah, haha, yes you do! If it makes you feel any better this lot was my second order in a month :S

@ Evelyn, On-X is my fave!

@ Erica, the darker swatch of 'Lucky' (where it looks turquoise) was over a dark base :) I don't have an invite link but there is an offer for new customers where you will receive 10% off your first order :D

@ Luxie Honey, hahaha, it is my job to tempt people :P Just kiddin' (kinda) hehe.

@ The Peach, 'Persuasion' over 'My Little Pony' = AMAZING. Definitely try it if you have MLP! I think DG are becoming an indie favourite :)

@ Alessandra, place an order for sure! there's 10% off for new customers :)

@ Leanne, haha, agreed they don't look too interesting on the site but that's just because they're so hard to photograph! Google for other reviews because some bloggers have awesome DG swatch pics!
