REVIEW - Nyx Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk'

If you've been part of the online make-up community for, say....over two days, you will know how the 'Milk' Jumbo Pencil by NYX is a bit of a make-up star. Adored by lovers of bright eyeshadow everywhere, it is possibly the most popular eyeshadow base on the market *. While browsing love-makeup, I found myself casually placing one into my basket...

[[ NYX 'Milk' Jumbo Pencil ]]

NYX 'Jumbo Pencils' come with clear lids so that you can see which colour you are reaching for. The information printed on the pencil consists of the NYX logo, product name, shade name and ingredients. Simple, effective, sturdy - thumbs up.

[[ NYX 'Milk' over UDPP ]]

Creamy and smooth to apply, 'Milk' blends out across the lid like a dream. I apply some Urban Decay Primer Potion and then swipe on about ten short lines of 'Milk' and blend it in with my finger. You can achieve complete opacity, though I wouldn't recommend it since cream products are more likely to crease the thicker you apply them.

With my 'Milk' Jumbo Pencil applied, I then press my eyeshadow into it and blend it out using a brush. Eyeshadow blends out easily and shows up brighter and more true to the colour in the pot. I get a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours, but it's nothing a quick buff with a fluffy brush can't handle.

For dark, rich eyeshadows, I prefer a black base and glittery eyeshadows are better used with a stickier base, but for bright eyeshadows 'Milk' is excellent! I've also taken to using neutrals over 'Milk', to make them a little bolder. Overall, a decent purchase if you are a lover of bright eyeshadows or feel your neutrals need more of a kick. Priced at £2.99 each from the love-makeup site. I now have my eye on 'Oyster', 'Cottage Cheese' and 'Baby Blue'!

* Eyeshadow bases and primers are two different things, so UDPP is not the most popular base, but in fact the most popular primer.

  2. I couldn't live without this, it's amazing for mattes. I don't get on with Black Bean so well though for some odd reason!

  5. I just got 6 of these last week (Electric Blue, Black Bean, Milk, Cherry, Purple, Yellow) and I've been using them non-stop under my eyeshadows. I really really love the effect that the brights get over Milk! And Yellow is light enough to be a quick-fix for color-correcting eyelids. I got them off ebay, they don't sell them where I live either

  12. T. Rose, you sharpen them just like a traditional eyeshadow pencil.
