Most Recent Empties

It amazes me how many bloggers manage an empties post every single month without fail! I'm not one of those who try to finish things in order to buy something else, so it takes me much longer to amass anything post worthy. Maybe I should try to, though...I have so many unloved products!

There's something kinda satisfying about a pile of used up products, isn't there?!

COLLECTION 2000 PRESSED POWDER: Your run of the mill, budget friendly face powder. It's very similar to Rimmel 'Stay Matte' powder, just cheaper! Repurchase? Already have.

SHU UEMURA MATTE PEACH BLUSH: I was in two minds about this blush, on the one hand - it's definitely NOT worth the amount you pay for it since it's so poorly pigmented and doesn't feel at all luxe. On the other, it's entirely fool proof and a gorgeous colour. Repurchase? Nope! I can find cheaper, nice alternatives.

MUA SHADE 19 MATTE EYESHADOW: I've used this shade religiously as my 'brow filler ever since MUA first launched in Superdrug. It's perfect for those of us with dark hair, plus it's only £1! Repurchase? I already have!

COLLECTION 2000 'LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER': A great concealer with medium, buildable coverage. I've used both light and medium shades, which look near enough identical once oxidised (though medium is a wee bit pinker). Repurchase? I'm on my third tube, so there will probably be a fourth...

LUSH 'DARK ANGELS' CLEANSER: I love this stuff! It's hard to find really gritty, rough exfoliators and the 'gentle' kinds do absolutely nothing for me. 'Dark Angels' is ideal for my oily skin and leaves it squeaky clean. Repurchase? I'm planning on buying my third tub soon.

FIGS AND ROUGE BALM: I really liked this until I left it in the Sun...bad idea! It turned gritty and disgusting, the top layer went semi-solid and I could pick it off like skin on rice pudding - grim! So, while it's not technically finished, my ability to use it definitely is. Repurchase? No, I'd only end up leaving it in the Sun again.

No.7 'BEAUTIFULLY MATTE FOUNDATION': Oooh No.7, you give me my only 'from the bottle' match with shade 'New Ivory'...then change all your foundation shades. However, I am looking forward to trying their new skin matching system and hope another shade matches me! Otherwise I'm heading to Bobbi Brown. Repurchase? Entirely depends on whether any of the new shades match me from the bottle!

TRESEMME LONG LASTING HOLD HAIR SPRAY: I bought this aged about 17 and it's only just run out! That's almost four years - impressive or what?! It also does a pretty darn good job of keeping your hair in place for a full day. Repurchase? No, I find the lids on Tresemme hair sprays tend to be faulty, resulting in sticky hands and bottles. Yick!

SOAP AND GLORY 'GLAM-A-LOT' SPRAY: Possibly my favourite scent ever! I wear this practically every day and this bottle has lasted me almost an entire year. Repurchase? Definitely.

UMBERTO GIANNINI 'INDULGENT BEAUTY MOISTURE MASK': While this hair mask did the job, I wouldn't call it particularly indulgent. It left my hair feeling like any regular conditioner would. I think those with normal hair would enjoy it, but if you have truly dry hair - look elsewhere. Repurchase? No.

Do you use anything I've mentioned here? Can you suggest a decent high street hair mask for mega dry, frizzy hair?

FOTD - Golden Oldies

Yesterday I dug out some eyeshadows that I bought WAY back when I was first getting into make-up. This includes shades from my very first Fyrinnae order (my first step into the world of indie cosmetics.) Since that faithful day there are two eyeshadows that I recommend to everyone ordering from Fyrinnae - 'Digital Faerie' and 'Shrouded in Gold'.

[[ Aint is annoying when the pic you're pulling a weird face in shows off the make-up the best?! ]]

[[ Soz but I liked my hair in this picture! ]]

EYES - TFSI, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Fyrinnae 'Polar Bear', Fyrinnae 'Digital Faerie', MUA 'Dusk til Dawn' palette dark blue, Fyrinnae 'Shrouded in Gold', MAC 'Vanilla' pigment, MAC 'Melon' pigment, Barry M 'Blue' bold eyeliner, Collection 2000 felt tip eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Collection 2000 'Lasting Perfection' concealer, Collection 2000 face powder, The Balm 'Frat Boy' blush, MAC 'Vanilla' pigment.

LIPS - Shu Uemura 'BG 90', MAC 'Honeylove' lipstick, New CID gloss.

I LOVE BLUE EYESHADOW. People should wear it more often to make my soul happy :) I realized I don't own many indie blues though - which are your favourites? Any recommendations?

(P.S) STILL fading the blue out of my hair. I quite like this weird grey-green it's turned, though! The roots, however, are dark blonde...Not good! Can't wait to dye it another colour!

FOTD - In the Pink

Since we had plans to go to a metal gig last night, I figured I'd make an attempt to wear something other than just silvery taupe and eyeliner!

EYES - UDPP, Darling Girl 'Glitter Glue', Darling Girl 'My Little Pony', Shiro Cosmetics 'S.S Anne' (obsessed with this eyeshadow much?!), peachy pinky e/s from MUA 'Heaven and Earth' palette, Eyeko black graffiti eyeliner, mascara, Kryolan white pencil eyeliner.

FACE - Natural Collection 'Shine Away' foundation, No. 7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Witch anti-blemish concealer, Kryolan powder, Shu Uemura matte peach blush, Fyrinnae 'Centre Stage' highlighter.

LIPS - Nekked!

Safe to say, bright blue and bold purple remain one of my favourite colour combos :) Seriously need to get some hot oil on my hair, don't I?! Has anyone used olive oil on their hair before? Any tips?

Do you ever set out to do one kind of look and end up doing something totally different? I intended to do a blue look with a little gold...then this happened...

EYES - TFSI, NYX 'Milk' jumbo pencil, Venomous Cosmetics 'Ogopogo', Yaby matte white, Yaby matte black, Ben Nye 'Fuchsia' blush, MAC 'Vanilla' pigment, Eyeko graffiti eyeliner, Kryolan peach pencil eyeliner, mascara.

FACE - No.7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation, Natural Collection tinted moisturiser, Kryolan powder, Shu Uemura matte peach blush.

LIPS - OCC 'Trick' and 'Anime' mixed, Kiss my Sass Cosmetics 'Innocence' gloss.

Maybe I'm nudging my way back out of my neutral phase?! You should see my eyeshadow drawers right now - I have one for brights and one for neutrals. My neutrals are fit to burst and my brights are seriously lagging behind. There was a time when  I didn't even understand the need for a brown eyeshadow and now I have at least 20! Eeesh...

What are your favourite bright eyeshadows? What about your favourite highlight shades?

(P.S) My camera's mirror has a scratch on it, so my lens is struggling to focus right now. I'm having to use full auto mode (which I hate with a passion) until I can have it fixed. So if photos are a bit crap for a while,  sorry!

EYES - UDPP, Fyrinnae pixie epoxy, Sugarpill 'Lumi', Fyrinnae 'Omgwtf', Shiro Cosmetics 'Link', Beauty UK purple from the 'Night and Day' palette, Too Faced 'Sweet Cream', Sleek dark purple, Illamasqua gel sealant, mascara.

FACE - Kryolan ultra foundation cream, Collection 2000 'Matt + Minerals', Kryolan powder, Shu Uemura 'Matte Peach' blush.

LIPS - OCC 'Trick' mixed with OCC 'Hush'.

Whenever I ask if anyone has favourite combinations for eyeshadow/ requests for FOTDs I always get the reply 'Green and purple!' so I figured I'd go for that today :)  I very rarely wear green eyeshadow because completely green looks always seem a bit off on me thanks to my very yellow undertones. Both green and purple are amazing for making brown eyes POP though - don't you think?

FOTD - Golden Coral

EYES - UDPP, Fyrinnae 'Polar Bear', Fyrinnae 'Shrouded in Gold', Urban Decay 'Zero', Estee Lauder 'rose Confetti', MAC 'Vanilla' pigment, GOSH black eye pencil, E.L.F black cream eyeliner.

FACE - Kryolan ultra foundation as concealer, Collection 2000 'Matt + Minerals' foundation, Topshop 'Neon Rose' mixed with GOSH 'Darling', Shu Uemura 'Matte Peach' blush, Kryolan powder, MAC 'Vanilla' pigment.

LIPS - OCC 'Hush' and 'Trick' mixed.

Gold, smokey looks are some of my favourites and I thought a bit of warm, metallic eyeshadow would work well with my coral top. Coral doesn't exactly work with my green hair, but hey - lets ignore that little fact, shall we?!

How do you wear gold? How do you wear coral?

FOTD - Bad Girls and Margaritas

I had a moment of realisation a few days ago - I've *almost* reached that dreaded point in make-up. You know - that point. The point where you lust after neutrals, skip past the bright eyeshadows, think 30 minutes is way too long to pull together a look and find your 'wishlist' full of taupe and browns. Dare I say, my make-up choices are simmering down and maturing. This, of course, has to be rectified....

EYES - UDPP, NYX 'Milk' jumbo pencil, Venomous Cosmetics 'Margaritas in Mexico City', Venomous Cosmetics 'Centipede', Venomous Cosmetics 'Sydney Harbour at Night', Sleek 'Bad Girl' palette dark blue, Urban Decay 'Peace' eyeliner, Illamasqua gel sealant, Fyrinnae 'Harlequin', MAC 'Vanilla' pigment, mascara

FACE - Kryolan ultra foundation as concealer, Collection 2000 'Matt + Minerals', Kryolan powder, Shu Uemura 'Matt Peach'

LIPS - MAC 'Honeylove', Taxi London 'Mile End' gloss

SUCK ON IT, TAUPE.
I'm not in your grasp just yet ;)

My Top 10 Picks for Spring Lips!

Ah, Spring is upon us and I deem this the perfect season to talk about undoubtedly my favourite make-up product - lipstick. 'I'm skipping the 'true coral' and 'bright orange' trends because quite honestly I hate wearing them on my lips. Instead I'm going for pinks and peaches, which in my opinion suit the colours of the season (white, neons, mint green, turquoise) so much better!

1. Barry M '152' - Creamy, pinkish plum.
2. Barry M '101' - Super pale marshmallow (only to lighten other shades!)
3. MAC 'Honeylove' - Peachy, nude beige.
4. OCC 'Trick' - Brown toned peach.
5. Shu Uemura 'BG 942' - Sheer peachy beige.

6. Clinique 'Coral Crush' - Vivid, orange-coral.
7. MAC 'Toxic Tale' - Vivid red-coral.
8. Barry M '147' - Pale pink-coral.
9. MUA 'Shade 13' - Vibrant violet-pink.
10. Barry M '145' - Bright pink.

Which colours take your eye? Are you lusting after any particular lippies this Spring?

FOTD - Easy Smokey Look with MAC 'Old Gold'

MAC 'Old Gold' is quite possibly one of the most recognisable pigments out there. True, it has its dupes, I think there is a similar mica a good few indie companies use to make eyeshadows with the same green/ gold duochrome (usually called 'Aztec Gold' or the same 'Old Gold'). I can never really decide whether I really like it or not...over black it looks awesome, but on its own...hmm...I'm not quite sold.

[[ 'Old Gold' is the only true colour in this look - layering it over black eyeliner brings out the green duochrome ]]

[[ I should take the cash I'm NOT spending on cosmetics and finally buy new plugs! ]]

EYES - UDPP, E.L.F black cream eyeliner, MAC 'Old Gold', Sassy Minerals 'Understated', Urban Decay 'Zero', Natural Collection black pencil eyeliner random falsies, mascara.

FACE - Shu Uemura under base mousse, Collection 2000 'Matt + Minerals' foundation, Kryolan ultra foundation as concealer, Kryolan powder, Accessorize 'Bermuda' bronzer, Evil Shades 'Love Bite' blush, Sleek 'Peach' Glo palette.

LIPS - MAC 'Honeylove' lipstick, Taxi London 'Mile End' gloss.

It looks distinctly like I was going out in these pictures, doesn't it? Unfortunately I wasn't. I just went to the pub with my Dad, his mate and my boyfriend - then back home for curry and cake! I'm off to Bolton tomorrow for the uni tour, accommodation tour and presentation on media and computer graphics/ imaging. I'm not exactly sure what to expect - but I'm excited, I think it will really hit home that I'll be moving there at the end of the year!

What do you think of 'Old Gold'? What are you favourite duochrome eyeshadows?

FOTD - Two Suns

Today my Bat for Lashes CD arrived in the post, 'Two Suns'. It's the first 'physical' CD I've bought in ages (the last before that was Iron & Wine 'Woman King') so I was pretty excited! Natasha Khan is undoubtedly my most respected female musician, her voice is incredible, she writes her own music, plays five instruments, doesn't try to fit with the mainstream and has an awesome style to top it off - what's not to love?!

Anyway, enough rambling.

I'm not a fan of how the crease photographed as being so darn muddy. IRL, it's a nice coppery brown...Ah well, some you win, some you lose!

EYES - UDPP, FPI, MAC 'Old Gold', MAC 'Entremauve' (or 'Grape', they're near enough identical), Mixology 'Rogue', MUA 'Shade 12', Collection 2000 'Purple' felt tip eyeliner, Urban Decay 'Lucky' pencil eyeliner, the most pointless layer of mascara ever.

FACE - Kryolan Ultra Foundation as concealer, Collection 2000 'Matt + Minerals' foundation, Shu Uemura 'Matte Amber' blush, Lancome bronzer, Kryolan powder.

LIPS - MAC 'Jubilee', Soap & Glory gloss.

Also not a fan of how weird I look with next to no eyelashes and no liquid eyeliner! I usually pile on the black liquid eyeliner with colourful/ intricate looks but it's hard to apply when you don't have many eyelashes as a guide.

Now you should all listen to 'Glass' by Bat for Lashes - it is seriously INCREDIBLE!
