Double Dares with BBH - Robyn @ Stay Beautiful

For this weeks double dares challenge, Robyn from over at Stay Beautiful decided that David Bowie was a decent theme. Bowie reminds me of secondary school and hanging out in the music rooms at dinner. We figured out how to link our mp3 players to the CD player, the CD player to the amp and the amp to the speakers and we'd blast Bowie through half of the school. Our teacher didn't seem impressed...but I think he was, secretly...

I used the cover from Alladin Sane as my inspiration, since it is one of the most iconic images in popular culture AND one of the most recreated make-up looks. I didn't want to do the thunder strike since everyone has probably done it at some point, so instead I kept the idea of sharp lines, colour and graphic prints.

Thanks for challenging me, Robyn :) Everyone should go and check out her Bowie inspired look over at her blog - I'm sure it's awesome!

(P.S) I popped up a poll in the side bar so you can vote for which company you would like to see me review next, please take a second to vote!

Double Dares with BBH - Kimberley @ DottieK

This week, I asked Kimberley from over at DottieK if she'd be up for challenging me. DottieK is easily one of my favourite UK blogs, with to the point reviews, decent photos and polished FOTDs. I was excited that she agreed and soon came back to me with the idea for animal print make-up. I loooove animal prints - from the traditional, kinda tacky leopard and zebra print to the more delicate insect prints and everything in between! I finally settled on a butterfly inspired make-up look...

[[ Butterflies! ]]

I think fiery, bright butterflies are usually the most eye catching so of course I had to use those colours. I wanted to use speckles and dots to break up the block colours and add some randomness  that the symmetry of butterflies lack.

[[ Spatters! Dots! Dashes! ]]

[[ Bronzer! Highlighter! Powder! ]]

[[ Red! Orange! Yellow! ]]

EYES - UDPP, Soap and Glory 'Arch de Triumph', Yaby white, Yaby yellow, Yaby black, Ben Nye red, Kryolan liquid eyeliner, Illamasqua Sealing Gel, Kryolan white aqua colour, mascara.

FACE - Kryolan Ultra Foundation, Collection 2000 Matt + Minerals, Accessorize 'Bermuda' bronzer, Kryolan powder, Sleek 'Peach' Glo palette.

LIPS - MAC 'Blankety' lipstick

I had fun doing this, I haven't worn bright colours as more than an accent in what seems like a decade! Plus, any excuse to spatter face paint all over your eyelids is always a good one! Although, it further confirmed my need for the Sugarpill 'Burning Heart' palette - all of my yellow and orange eyeshadows are a bit 'meh' and need to be packed on for any sort of result.

Thanks for challenging me, Kimberley! You can see what animal print look she has come up with over on her blog, DottieK.

Double Dares with BBH - Liloo (AKA Tsunimee) @ Le Petit Jardin de Liloo

Joining me on my 'Double Dares' series this week is the stunning Liloo :) She keeps me amused on Twitter and amazed with her bright, crazy, fun looks on her blog and Youtube. I think we share the idea that before anything else - make-up should be for fun! So it made perfect sense that I ask her to be my second challenger!

Liloo suggested we both find a MAC promo picture we like and try to recreate it as best we can. Ace! MAC promo pictures are always gorgeous, so I couldn't wait to get stuck right in...

Double Dares with BBH - Leanne @ Do Not Refreeze!

Hey guys! Today I'm mega excited because I'm kicking off a new series :D What makes it more exciting is that I'm counting on some of you guys to take part...

For 'Double Dares with BBH', I'll be contacting a different blogger every one or two weeks and asking them to challenge me to something beauty related. It can almost anything*. A certain FOTD, hair style, body art, outfits...whatever you can think of - the more challenging the better! The only catch is, whatever that blogger 'dares' me to do, they have to do themselves, too!

For the first 'Double Dare with BBH', I asked the lovely lady from Do Not Refreeze to take part. Do Not Refreeze was one of the first blogs I started following and I read every new post, so it made sense that I must get Leanne to take part! Her idea was for a split face look - half drag/ dramatic, half plain....

[[ Half a tonne of makeup ]]

[[ How awesome are these falsies? They were falling off and I didn't notice til uploading pics! ]]

[[ No makeup! ]]

I had fun doing this look; I've never really tried full on, all out 'true' drag makeup before but have always admired drag queens' makeup skills! You wouldn't even believe how much bronzer I loaded on - it was ridiculous. And how much powder....scary, scary amounts haha. Takes more than a quick sweep of colour to give me cheekbones!  Is it worrying that I'd still wear the drag side out? What do you guys think of my wig? I got it ages ago off eBay back when I made fake dreads. I think it's rather diva.

Thanks to Leanne for challenging me and taking part! You can see her look over here on her blog :) Keep checking your inboxes guys...I might be asking you next...

* I say almost because I draw the line at bleaching my hair and can't do nail art right now haha.
